A Logical Framework for Integrating Inconsistent Information in Multiple Databases
نویسندگان
چکیده
When integrating data coming from multiple different sources we are faced with the possibility of inconsistency in databases. In this paper, we use one of the paraconsistent logics introduced in [9, 7] (LFI1) as a logical framework to model possibly inconsistent database instances obtained by integrating different sources. We propose a method based on the sound and complete tableau proof system of LFI1 to treat both the integration process and the evolution of the integrated database submitted to users updates. In order to treat the integrated database evolution, we introduce a kind of generalized database context, the evolutionary databases, which are databases having the capability of storing and manipulating inconsistent information and, at the same time, allowing integrity constraints to change in time. We argue that our approach is sufficiently general and can be applied in most circumstances where inconsistency may arise in databases.

Integrating Data from Possibly Inconsistent Databases
We address the problem of data inconsistencies while integrating data sets from multiple autonomous relational databases. We start by arguing that the semantics of integrating possibly inconsistent data is naturally captured by the maximal consistent subsets of the set of all information contained in the collected data. Based on this idea, we propose a simple and intuitive semantical framework,...

When integrating data coming from multiple different sources we are faced with the possibility of inconsistency in databases. A paraconsistent approach for knowledge base integration allows keeping inconsistent information and reasoning in its presence. متن کاملPreferences for Queries in a Mediator Approach
The problem of integrating relevant information obtained from multiple heterogeneous sources is a complex task, with which biologists are now faced. In this paper, we address the problem of querying biomedical databases in a mediator context. We propose to exploit the metadata of the sources to take into account user preferences. The mediator system we present is designed within a tractable log...
متن کاملA Formal Framework for Integrating Inconsistent Answers from Multiple Information Sources
In any environment of multiple information sources it is practically unavoidable that information sources would overlap; that is, describe the same portion of the real world. And when information sources overlap, it is practically unavoidable that information would be inconsistent; that is, describe diierently the same portion of the real world. In this report we deene a formal framework for re...
